20 Poetry Prompts and 5 short, creative writing prompts for writers of all levels to inspire new writing ideas during the quiet month of November. A total of 25 seasonal writing prompts to weave into your next poem.

Hi everyone!

After October’s burst of colors, November arrived slowly like a soft exhale between two seasons.

The world feels gentler with its muted golds, grey skies, and the quiet process of leaves letting go. It is a month that invites poets to do the same. To loosen our hold on the daily rush, to rest in stillness and reflection, and to find beauty in the silent spaces in between. And as the world grows colder, we are invited to seek out the warmth of turning inward.

November is not about grand beginnings or new resolutions. It is about noticing and daring to stand still in all that has passed this year. Autumn is a season for deep feelers, and I hope that in November, you will allow yourself to feel all that is within you. Giving a voice to all that has not yet received a chance to be heard.

Because this is the season for slow writing. For letting your words slowly simmer, for revisiting drafts you have tucked away since summer, for writing simply because it soothes you and brings you joy. Let November’s poetic balance of melancholy and comfort, endings and preparation, the hush before the holiday rush, guide you this month. Let it be a reminder that creativity does not need noise, often it just needs a quiet companion.

I have gathered 20 poetry prompts and 5 creative writing prompts to inspire you with this month. I invite you to play around with these prompts. Bend, twist, or transform these prompts as you pen them into your writing.

I hope these will spark something undiscovered within you, and if they do, then let it be messy, chaotic, and breathtaking all at once.
